Mrs. Amparo Darias Plasencia became very popular all over the island when in 1975 she started cooking the "famous goat meat of Amparo Las Hayas". The beginnings were in a small room, which since then became the meeting point for all the neighbors of Las Hayas, and an obligatory stop for the rest of the Gomeros who came to enjoy her good cooking. In 1995 the current "Bar-Restaurant Amparo" was built, which continues to be a reference and meeting place for its neighbors, preserving the same recipes and traditional style. In the Bar-Restaurant Amparo, the tourist finds a place where he feels at home, integrated with the neighbors of the area and where he can chat with one of the most popular women of the island of La Gomera, known for her kindness to tourists. It is frequent that some "parranda canaria" is organized where the tourist can enjoy the traditional music of the islands.
