Next to the Garajonay National Park, is the Caserío de Las Hayas, a small village of no more than 50 houses, where most of the buildings keep a traditional architecture of the island,
consisting of one-story houses, with stone exteriors and roof, next to their orchards and land for cultivation and grazing.

Las Hayas belongs to Valle Gran Rey, the most touristic municipality of the island of La Gomera.

Garajonay National Park covers an area of more than 10% of the island of La Gomera. It was declared as such in 1981. Subsequently, in 1986, Unesco included it among the World Heritage Sites.
